Debut!
Look for my debut novel, An Uncertain Age, in April 2026!
Hello to all of you lovely subscribers, and those of you who want to know more about the nature of that debut I mentioned recently. I’m happy to share the title and cover for my new novel, An Uncertain Age, forthcoming from The Wild Rose Press.
The novel is set in 1350 in the Palatinate of Durham, the King’s bulwark against the Scot. No one in the village of Thornham was surprised when Tobias Surteys expanded his wife’s cottage ale-brewing business, setting himself up as a rival to the powerful Reeve. But when Tobias dies of an apparent apoplexy one fine spring morning, his widow Margaret startles them all by taking over the brewery and seizing her only chance for financial independence. This plan is complicated by the opposition of the Reeve and his cronies and by her abandoned eleven-year-old step-granddaughter, who has plans of her own. Mayhem ensues.
Subscribers to this newlsetter (it’s free!) will find interesting historical bits related to ale-brewing, murder, and other novel-related stuff here in the Rabbithole, along with updates about when the book will be available for pre-order, and the occasional look behind the scenes at a novelist of an uncertain age plying her craft.
Thanks so much to those of you who restacked, shared, or liked my previous announcement, and those who took the time to leave a comment. I am overwhelmed! And if you think your friends might be interested in the newletter or the novel, I hope you’ll spread the word.

Congratulations! I love the book cover.
